Painless wart removal treatment: The best way to get rid of it

Warts majorly develop when Human papillomavirus (HPV) enters into the skin due to cut or skin breakage, and then HPV causes infection in the form of a wart.

Different Types of warts-

  • On Hands- Mainly known as Common wart because it is the most common type of wart

  • On-Feet- Warts that appear on soles of feet are referred to as Planter warts. This type of wart is considered painful as it is also formed in groups.
  • Subungual and Periungual- These kinds of warts form around toenails and fingernails.
  • Genitals- These warts are a form of sexually transmitted infection.

Warts are contagious in nature. It has the potential to spread from one person to another through direct contact, getting in contact with something that is a virus loaded like any towel, elevator button, chair, using the same blade for shaving, etc. Wart removal hence is recommended as it is very contagious and should be avoided. Warts can be removed without any complications, or they may go away on their own. Wart removal treatment may be needed or may not be needed as per the case and complacency of the wart formed. There can be many different methods available for wart removal.

The most common method opted for wart removal is Over-the-counter Salicylic acid. Salicylic acid absorbs painlessly into the skin through the skin peeling method. These wart removal medications come in gel, liquid or patch form. One has to repeat the application every day for a few months to see visible results. It is one of the most effective methods for wart removal. It can be easily found at supermarkets and drugstores.

Let us understand the procedure for wart removal with salicylic acid. You need to prep down the area by breaking down the wart with a nail filer or pumice stone. Also, soak the wart in a little warm water to soften it, approximately for around five to ten minutes. Then apply the liquid or patch of salicylic acid and cover it up. You need to repeat this process every day for wart removal. Be patient and consistent to see visible results as your wart will dissolve and break off easily and painlessly within few times.

Freezing is another wart removal method. The doctor applies liquid nitrogen to the wart to freeze it. When the wart freezes, a blister is formed. After a few more several wart removal treatments, the blister and the wart eventually peel off. This procedure is a part of cryotherapy.

Under Laser treatment, doctors use a laser for wart removal. They use light to heat up and destroy the tiny blood vessels present in the wart. This process helps cut off the blood supply for killing the wart.

Topical creams containing the chemical cantharidin is very effective in wart removal. This cream forms a blister right under the wart to cut off blood supply to the vessels. After applying the wart removal topical cream, the doctor can remove the dead wart after a few weeks.  

For stubborn warts, not every wart removal treatment can be useful. They do not respond well to other traditional wart removal treatments. Immunotherapy uses a chemical like diphencyprone (DCP) that leads to a mild allergic reaction to remove the wart.
